Best Places To Live In Grand Rapids, Michigan
To determine the best labor markets in the US, 182 cities – including the 150 most populous cities in the US and at least two of the most populous cities in each state – were combined according to two key dimensions, “labor market” and “socio-economic”. We gave more weight to the first one, taking into account that factors in this category have the greatest influence on a job seeker’s decision to change jobs.
We then evaluated the two dimensions using the 31 relevant measures listed below and their weights. Each metric was rated on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for job seekers. Data for measures marked with an asterisk (*) were only available at the state level.
Finally, we determined the weighted average of each city for each metric to calculate its overall score and used the resulting score to construct the sample. In determining our sample, we considered only the actual city in each case, excluding cities in the surrounding metro area.
