I decided to start with a lake I visited this past April and for me personally it was a good trip landing a fish over 60lb. The Best Public Reservoirs In France?
Lac Du Tard is a unique 14 acre lake with an island located in the famous Champagne region of France – just ten minutes from the market town of Vitry le François and a quick 4 hour trip (with stopovers) from the ports of Calais. and Dunkirk. The pond is completely enclosed and has lockable gates. There are 10 pools, some of which can easily accommodate up to 8 anglers. There are about 200 fish in the lake, mostly mirror carp to and over 50 pounds with commons to 49 pounds and a few carps around 40 pounds. The resident catfish ‘Jaco’ usually spawns once a year and was last caught at 135 pounds. There were about twenty different 40lb carp and about a hundred 30lb plus carp in the lake, a surprising population for several weeks of fishing.
