We found a great cheeseburger at this small, unassuming place tucked away in the Tequesta Mall. The American cheeseburger, the simplest of Buco Kitchen and Bar’s five burger varieties, had a nice wooden exterior and a juicy, pink interior. We had ours with American cheese. Buco is a small and unassuming restaurant tucked away in the Tequesta shopping center. I visited the space a few years ago when it housed Ocean Bleu, a charming seafood-focused bistro that closed in spring 2017. The late lunch atmosphere here was understated on this summer Saturday. Customers flock mainly to the small bar, which offers a good view of the TV and Haley McIntyre, the friendly and efficient bartender/waitress, who gives the place an “everyone knows your name” feel.

The menu is a mix of pub food (wings, calamari, panini, burgers) and pasta (penne bolognese, spaghetti with meatballs, penne ala vodka). But if you’re a burger lover, you might stop reading the menu after the first third, which lists a small selection of burgers.

These aren’t high profile, influential, or heavily photographed burgers, unless you count a dozen Yelp raves. Buco’s official social media pages are offering “Burger Wednesday” specials where you get $5 off. But this is just one of the weekly specials.
