Weymouth Beach is a large stretch of sand in Weymouth Bay, near Weymouth in Dorset, England. Immediately on the beach is the Esplanade.

To the south is Weymouth Pier, which includes the Pavilion Theater and the Weymouth Sea Life Tower. To the northeast is the Greyhill area, beyond which are Farzy Cliffs and Bolles Cove.

In 2011, a new company that combines the promenade and the beach in the form of Upturned Boats, was created by a local business, and it proved a great success. The beach is very popular with families because of the shallow water and time savings, making it a safe place to swim and bathe. Traditional entertainment can be found along the long stretch of sand, perfect for entertaining children. Children will love the fairs, Punch and Judy Show, donkey rides, and even the Bone Sand, where they can see their favorite TV characters come to life. The east end of the beach is quieter and popular with water sports enthusiasts looking for kayaks, jet skis or stand-up paddle boats.

Where To Enjoy The Best Dorset Sunsets

The historic harbor is a summer hot spot with plenty to see and do. Restaurants, cafes and bars are nearby where you can enjoy a meal and enjoy the atmosphere. Pictures of fish and chips in the village on the harbor walls watching the tourist boats go by and the fishing boats going down for their day. Beyond the city elevators you will find Hope Square where the old Devinish factory is located. During bank holiday weekends and the summer months, the area comes alive with local musicians, exhibitions and occasional markets with locally produced artisans. A short walk to Noth Fort and Gardens will be punctuated with stunning views over Weymouth Bay and the Isle of Portland.

Weymouth has a number of car parks, most of which are pay and display. There is also a park and ride that is a great way to escape the center. Dogs are allowed on the beach, however restrictions apply.

Weymouth Beach is a golden sandy beach near the town center with Weymouth Pier at its southern end. Family friendly, the safe, shallow water is great for swimming, and many other summer activities are on offer, from donkey rides to punch and judy.

The ramps lead to the sand via a long, flat and picturesque path. In addition to passive parking on the beach, the office has free beach wheelchairs for rent. Air conditioning and chairs can be rented, and there are many dining options. Weymouth Pier is at the southern end and a short train runs occasionally.

RNLI lifeguards and beach attendants are on duty from 1 May to the end of September; There are first aid centers and services for missing children. There are several free public bathrooms, accessible toilets, baby changing facilities and showers.

Seasonal activities include games, festivals, sand sculptures and fireworks. Activities include water sports, crazy golf, sports shows, games, pedal boats and donkey rides for children.

Dogs are not allowed on Central Beach or Lodmoor from Good Friday until the end of October, and must be led on the Esplanade, but there is a designated exercise area near the pavilion.

Between Good Friday and October 31, dogs are not allowed in the central parts of Weymouth Central or Lodmore.

I am lucky enough to live in Weymouth with my two dogs, we go out of our way to find an establishment near the beach that welcomes dogs in the warm weather to help keep them close. . . . North-east of Weymouth, Bowleaze Cove is a sandy and shingle beach. The beach is also on the Jurassic Coast and is close to the famous Fantasy Island Fun Fair.

There is plenty of parking around Bowleaze Cove, and food from the Sunset bar and restaurant, The Beachside and Cafe Oasis.

Public toilets are located next to Cafe Oasis at the entrance to the Cove, and there are also customer toilets and a cafe.

Dogs are welcome at Bowleaze Cove all year round. There are also some great swimming spots on the east side of the river.

Sometimes called Sandsfoot Cove, Castle Cove is a small sandy beach on the west side of Weymouth.

A popular beach for swimming, boating, snorkeling and diving, the lake is private but public. At low tide, you can see several interesting rock pools.

There is a street car park near Castle Cove where you are free to park. There are no public baths or catering facilities at Castle Cove.

Just outside of Weymouth on the Portland side is Chisel Beach. It is a shingle river that acts as a barrier for access to the Isle of Portland and the mainland.

The parking is located near the center of the beach, it is paid by the hour. The River Chisel is a popular spot for fishing instead of sunbathing. It is also worth noting that there is no shadow on a sunny day. There is also a nice park nearby if you are looking for a place to stay.

Public bathrooms are located in the visitor center which also has a cafe for entertainment and an interactive display that shows the beach environment.

Greenhill Beach is a popular choice for locals as it is much quieter than sprawling Weymouth Beach. It’s mostly sand rather than sand, but it’s in a nice area with lots of walking.

The closest park to Greenhill Beach is at Ludmore Country Park, or Beach Car Park, but places are limited.

Public baths and a restaurant are near Green Hill Gardens, or alternatively, there is a beach cafe near the harbor.

The River Overcombe is east of Weymouth and is popular with windsurfers, paddle boarders and kayakers.

Located next to Preston Beach, Overcombe has its own cafe with an attached car park. Dogs are welcome at Overcombe Beach.
